Classroom
Rules
- FOOD,
DRINKS, CANDY, and
GUM are prohibited in the classroom at all times
- All PHONES
and PAGERS must be turned off before entering the
classroom. (Obtain the phone number in your classroom and
give out for emergency purposes only!!) Should
your phone or pager sound during class, you will be asked
to leave the classroom and will not receive credit for that
day. (It will count as an absence)
- CHILDREN/GUESTS
may NOT come to class with you.
- Attendance
- Follow rules as set by the ROP (See absence policy
sheet.)
- It is
your responsibility to keep track of your absences
and makeup hours. Acceptance of hours during the week before
a quarter's end is at the discretion of the instructor.
- Computer
Hardware is expensive and should be treated with respect.
- Do
not bang on the keyboard, switch or move equipment
(especially mice and keyboards), unplug any cords, or stack
books or other items on any of the equipment.
- Safety
- Please keep all aisles clear of books, book bags, etc. Be
careful when backing up chairs.
- Follow
instructions you receive in class. Do not
explore directories or drives, download from the Internet,
alter configuration of the computer system, install games
or any other software, or try to copy programs. Software is
subject to Copyright laws. If you are found to be responsible
for introducing a virus or tampering with a computer in any
classroom, ROP has the right to drop you from the class.
- All students
must sign and agree to MVROP's Internet policy. No
downloading or printing from Internet without Instructor's
permission. NO PERSONAL E-MAIL USE
- Save
all files before logging out and make sure you are saving
your files to your assigned folder and not on the hard drive.
Unauthorized files and directories will be removed without
warning. PLEASE do not delete other student's files
or folders.
- Clear
your workspace when you leave. Dispose of all scraps
of paper.
- Do
not bring in any disks or programs from home or
elsewhere. FLOPPY DISKS are not to be used unless you
have instructor's permission.
- Show
respect for your fellow students. Keep voices low. Loud
conversation makes it difficult for others to concentrate
and is inconsiderate and unprofessional.
Violating
class rules affects the work ethic and will have an
effect
on your final grade.
Course
Description
This
is a one-year, 20 units, entry-level course. Classes meet two
hours per day at the MVROP Center for formal classroom instruction
and lab work. First quarter studies include Introduction and
Basics of E-Commerce where students will be introduced to and
learn the basics of E-Commerce Marketing. Students will learn
about corporate imaging, target audience, browser limitations,
Internet graphics and color, security, hosting, off and on-line
marketing and advertising, search engines and meta tags. Second
quarter covers E-Commerce Internet Start-up where students will
develop a company and product line concept. After creating a
site map and storyboards, students will design and publish a
multi-page web site with graphics photos and interactive online
forms. Third quarter study includes E-Commerce Storefront, where
students will create and launch an on-line store. They will
add products to the shopping cart database and link the store
to their company web site. Students will become familiar with
customer service issues, accepting payments online, establishing
a merchant account, securing a site for Internet transactions,
adding traffic tools and preparing meta tags for search engine
registration. Fourth quarter will cover E-Marketing and students
will learn about E-Commerce and marketing an Internet company
by preparing and launching an E-Marketing Plan. This plan will
include marketing tools such as: E-mail Marketing, E-zines,
Contests and Banner Ads. Students will be introduced to the
use of music on the web and developing an on-line resume/portfolio.
Throughout the year, team and group activities are planned.
Students will also learn and practice office protocol and work
ethics.
